Aviation

Private hangars, commercial hangars, FBO terminals, MRO facilities, and helicopter hangars — engineered for wide clear-spans, tall door openings, and the structural loads that aviation demands. Florida-approved wind ratings, hurricane-rated assemblies, all engineered in-house.

Why Steel for Aviation

Wide clear-spans. Tall door heights. Built for the aircraft you fly.

Aviation buildings have non-negotiable structural demands: wide clear-spans so the wings fit, tall door openings so the tail clears, and enough structural capacity in the door header to hold a hydraulic bi-fold door the width of a Gulfstream. Pre-engineered steel handles all of it.

Every hangar we engineer starts with the aircraft. Wingspan, tail height, door type (bi-fold, hydraulic, sliding, roll-up), and the number of aircraft inside shape the entire design. Our in-house engineering team sizes the frame, the door header, and the foundation to match your specific aircraft mix.

FBO terminals, MRO shops, and flight schools add their own requirements: pilot lounges, office space, lobby glazing, fire suppression, and spark-proof lighting for fuel handling. We integrate all of it into a single building envelope.

What's Included

Every aviation build is delivered by one accountable team.

From first site visit to final inspection — engineering, manufacturing, permitting, and erection all under one roof. No third-party handoffs, no finger-pointing, no markups stacked on top of markups.

In-House

Custom Engineering & Stamped Drawings

Every project is custom-designed by our in-house engineering team. You get stamped structural drawings — not a catalog template.

Direct

Factory-Direct Manufacturing

Panels, trim, bolts, screws, mastic, sealants — all sourced direct from our own production facilities. Skip the middleman.

Handled

Permitting & Inspections

Our permitting team handles the paperwork, inspections, and code compliance — so your project stays on schedule and on file.

On Site

Trained Erection Crews

Our own crews erect the building on your site — no subcontractor shuffle, no quality surprises. On time, within budget.

Backed

Workmanship Warranty

Every SSS build comes with a workmanship warranty you can count on. FBC approved, A+ BBB rated, IAS accredited.

Accountable

Dirt-to-Done Project Management

One team, two facilities, one point of accountability from kickoff through final inspection. That's the SSS promise.

Credentials referenced above apply to AllSteel Buildings (Tampa, FL, Est. 1984). Steel Building Systems (Adel, GA) operates under its own Georgia licensing and accreditations. Combined, we serve the full Southeast United States.

Would rate higher if possible. Completed a 30,000 sq ft building for me faster than the quote agreement. I have since been a returning customer for five other projects. Incredible job.

FAQs

Common questions about aviation steel buildings.

Our pre-engineered rigid-frame systems handle the clear-spans needed for every private and commercial aircraft class commonly based in the Southeast — from single-engine pistons to corporate jets. For multi-bay hangars housing larger aircraft, we engineer custom frames sized to your specific wingspan requirement.
Yes. We engineer the door header and the frame to support the specific door system you choose — bi-fold, hydraulic one-piece, sliding, or multi-leaf. The door manufacturer’s specs drive the structural calcs so the frame can handle the load.
Yes. FBO builds often combine a terminal lobby + offices + pilot lounge with attached hangars under one building envelope. We engineer the connection, fire separations, and utility runs as a single integrated project.
Yes. We engineer to site-specific wind loads per the local building code — Florida Building Code (FBC) for Florida projects, IBC for Georgia and other states. Coastal and HVHZ projects get additional engineering for the most stringent wind zones.
Yes. Fueling and maintenance hangars have specific NFPA requirements — our engineers design the mechanical penetrations, fire-suppression layout, and electrical classifications to match the code for your operation type.
Yes. End-wall expansions work on hangars the same as any pre-engineered building — the end wall removes cleanly, we match the frame profile, and the new section ties into the existing structure.
